How It Works

Create a Telegram Bot

Message @BotFather on Telegram, send /newbot, and follow the prompts to get your Bot Token.

Get Your Chat ID

Use @userinfobot or the getUpdates API to find your channel/group Chat ID, or simply use @channelname.

Configure the Extension

Enter your Bot Token and Chat ID in the extension settings. Your credentials are stored securely in your browser.

How We Use Information

The extension accesses the following data solely for its core functionality:

Page Information

When you click "Send to Telegram", the extension reads the current page's title and URL to format the message. This data is sent directly to Telegram's API and is not stored or processed elsewhere.

Local Storage

The extension uses browser local storage to save your Bot Token and Chat ID. This data never leaves your device except when making API calls to Telegram, and is stored securely within your browser's sandboxed environment.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We want to be crystal clear:

  • We do not sell your data
  • We do not share your data with third parties
  • We do not have servers that receive your data
  • No external analytics or advertising services are integrated

The only external communication is with Telegram's official API (api.telegram.org) when you explicitly choose to send a message.

Permissions Explained

Telegram Saver requires certain browser permissions to function. Here's why:

activeTab

Allows access to the current tab's URL and title when you click the extension icon or use the context menu. This permission only activates on user interaction.

storage

Required to save your Bot Token and Chat ID locally in your browser. This data is stored in Chrome's secure local storage and never transmitted to our servers.

contextMenus

Enables the right-click menu option "Send to Telegram" for quick access to the extension's functionality.

scripting

Required to extract the page title from the active tab. This permission is used minimally and only when you initiate a send action.

Data Security

All data processed by Telegram Saver remains within the secure, sandboxed environment of your browser. We follow browser extension security best practices to ensure:

  • No unauthorized access to your data
  • Isolation from other extensions and web pages
  • Compliance with browser security policies
  • Secure transmission to Telegram via HTTPS

Your Rights and Control

You have complete control over the extension:

  • Disable or Remove: You can disable or uninstall the extension at any time through your browser settings
  • Clear Data: You can clear any locally stored credentials by removing the extension or clearing extension data
